The teething stage will start when your baby reaches two months of age. This is similar to babies sometimes. Your baby will begin to drool at first and it is recommended that you place a bib on your baby to stop any irritation that could happen from the wetness.
When your baby is holding a rattle they would also be old enough to grip a teething ring. It would be a great idea to have a couple in the fridge for hen you baby needs them. This can be considered the same as babies most of the time. Do not freeze the teething ring because it will cause the baby to frost bite their hands and gums.
The first teeth will appear around the age of six to nine months. But if you or any of the siblings of your baby has had teeth come out at an earlier age your baby may also. No matter what, when that tooth come out it will need to be cleaned. It is easy to clean your baby’s teeth using a washcloth or a soft toothbrush.
When your child has many teeth that have erupted you can begin to introduce flossing. This can also help them fine tune their fine motor skills. There have been studies done by the American Dental Association that have proven that brushing alone will not remove all the food stuck in teeth so flossing also needs to be done. Of course this has nothing to do with babies usually. When flossing is not done daily cavities will appear sooner.
A dentist needs to see your child twice per year. Your child should see their dentist when they are able to sit for as long as ten minutes. This needs to be done by the time your child turns three years old.
